Great Turn Out for our 1st Annual Top of the World ATV Club Rodeo, Mud Bog and Poker Run

Rodeo from the air

Thanks to everyone from all over the Northeast U.S.A. who joined us for our first annual Top of the World ATV Club Rodeo. Riders from VASA clubs from around the State of Vermont, New England and as far away as Pennsylvania were on hand to enjoy the events, test their skills, and ride our trails. Go to the Photo Gallery for pictures of the event.

We had a beautiful day for the first annual Top of the World ATV Club Rodeo on Saturday August 16, and while a late afternoon shower had those of us in the main area running for cover under the tents and in the food pavilion, it didn't dampen the spirits of the folks playing in the mud. Rain or no rain, the mud pits kept on going!

Trail Administrator Bob Tucker cooked up good grub in the kitchen all day, while event organizer Sharon Vergara made sure things ran smoothly. Sharon did indeed have something for everyone including plenty of events for the numerous kids who came with their folks, the "bouncy house" being the central attraction.

Club President Lincoln Paquette took his turn in the dunk tank, and raised a bundle of money for the club coffers.

The Poker run was a great ride, with a trail mapped out and marked from Mitchell Rd. to the Miles Pond Rec Area, back to Concord Village and finally a stop at Shadow Lake before returning to the Mitchell Rd. event. It was a fun two hour cruise through all sorts of different terrain from rocky class 4 roads to water and mud, with lots of good smooth riding in between.

Action in the Mud Pits was non-stop all day, and Karl and Norma Goulding and their numerous helpers didn't get a moments rest as riders kept lining up for both the two wheel drive and four wheel drive pits. Even the late afternoon downpour didn't slow things down as the mud puppies kept splashing through the pits and the volunteers kept wading through the sometimes knee deep mud with tow cables to pull them through.

Organizer Sharon Vergara said the First rodeo, poker run, and Mud bog turned out very well. Everyone seemed to have a good time. Sharon says "I would also like to give a special thanks to all the volunteers as it couldn't of happened with out all their help! A Big thanks goes to Aleta Mitchell, Billy Mitchell of Mitchell's General contracting and Pete of New England Tree for all their help with the setup, the use of their machines, and for letting us use their land for this event."

Our thanks also goes out to all those ATV riders who came to enjoy the fun from all over New England, and from the different VASA clubs throughout Vermont. Without such great turnout the Rodeo wouldn't have been such a big success!

We hope to see you all next year!
